This piece links to the theme Art, Place and Self. I wanted to explore working on a different a different canvas for this artwork to add a new element to my work. I aimed to express the idea of self-discovery and identity and hope the audience connect to these themes. Pen work is used throughout my body of work and this piece includes a lot of fine detail. I used a variety of pen techniques to produce texture, detail and shading such as cross-hatching. I was influenced by map portrait artist Ed Fairburn.
